Hands for Hope

“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”

Mother Teresa

The UWI Guild of Students in collaboration with the National Affairs Committee and the FariLife Movement have launched a new outreach initiative entitled, “Hands for Hope.”

The program is the brainchild of Guild Treasurer, Jonathon St. Louis-Nahous, who seeks to encourage students of the university to volunteer their time and service to the residents of care facilities and homes across Trinidad. Hands for Hope is a year-long initiative in which volunteers can offer tutoring, counselling, recreational activities or physical provisions.

Members of the committee kicked off the initiative on Friday November 18th, 2016 when they visited and hosted a movie night at The Cyril Ross Nursery in Tunapuna. The members spent a quiet evening with the children, sharing snacks and looking at the movie Inside Out. The program seeks to forge an ongoing relationship with the residents of these facilities and the volunteers.

Students wishing to be a part of this venture can contact Jonathon at guildtreasurer@my.uwi.edu or any of the following committee members:

Darrion Narine: 1-868-277-4997

Jeniece Scott: 1-868-770-3015

Priya Harnarine: 1-868-494-8906

Rishard Khan: 1-868-383-9206

All volunteers will receive a certificate of participation.

Be sure to like and follow the UWI Hands for Hope on Facebook.
