The Environment Performance Index 2016 report recently ranked Trinidad and Tobago as having the second cleanest air in the world.
The country earned a rank of 97.2 out of 100. The score took into consideration factors like household air quality as well as exposure to nitrogen dioxide.
First place went to the Seychelles with a rank of 98.24, and third place went to the Maldives with a rank of 97.1
While T&T did well in the Air Quality ranking, the country placed 62nd overall with an overall score of 74.34.
Other factors in the Environmental Performance Index score include health quality, water resources, biodiversity and habitat, and climate and energy, and agriculture.
The 2016 Environmental Performance Index provides a global view of environmental performance and country by country metrics to inform decision-making.
Launched at the World Economic Forum, the EPI is in its 15th year and more relevant than ever to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and carrying out the recent international climate change agreement.
