The president of the Guild of Students embarked on a lecture series called Caribbean Reasonings that aimed to examine traditional perspectives as well as modern ones. The series began during summer school last year and tackled some of the major religious belief systems in the region.
Gender issues are now being examined; the last lecture Caribbean Reasonings: Iz a Bad Ting examined the Caribbeans perception of women, specifically – What is a Bad Ting.
It appears that the reasoning of why a woman is called a Bad Ting has less to do with how much people she slept with and more to do with how she dresses and walks. It also has alot to do with how jealous people are of her.
