Review of UWI Orientation week 2011

Ask most UWI Students what Orientation Week means and they would reply “Free ting”. With the first week of school being a bit less commercialized this year; several students were disappointed by the lack of giveaways.

For the casual person walking through the quadrangle last week; giveaways were rare but once you were willing to forage through the village there was actually a fair amount to be had.

The scaled-down commercialization gave the clubs a better chance of making an impact on new students.

A major change this year was the shelving of the parties held on the last two nights of the week. They were replaced instead by Guild Vibes: Free parties held on the Field south of the Food Court almost everynight.
Guild Vibes was alot more laid back than the over-hyped Friday and Thursday fetes.
There was even free alcohol (for a while)
All in all- not a bad week, check out some of the highlights…..
